The Oscars & Film Review: The Passion of the Christ & Lenten Meditations

01Mar04

Just finished watching the Oscars with Sarah and community folk. Good times. LOTR swept!!! Rock on. Its almost like all three films were being honored at the same time. Surprisingly few politcal remarks, given that it is an election year. Overall the show was tasteful and even reserved. The best part was hanging out with Sarah, Kim, Ryan, and David.

Kevin and Tracy returned from NY city tonight. I’m eager to hear about their trip and see pics. I’m glad they do things like that for/with each other. Its good for them, Izaac and Zoe, and the community. It’s good when leaders take care of themselves. More should.

Found a great review of The Passion of the Christ here – Grace Cathedral: Film Review: The Passion of the Christ. They connect the film to the Stations of the Cross (which was an obvious connection for Gibson. They reference 14 newer stations than the tradtional Catholic (I think that is correct). But Gibson seems to make reference to both, combined.

Also, if you’re looking for Lenten meditations check these out – ThursdayPM’s Lenten Meditations and Practicing Spirituality with Jesus: A Journey for Lent (2004)
